Improved functionality of website!

Okay, this was a long night but I came up with an improved Layout.

Inspired by the critique yesterday and this really cool video you guys took at the mall, I created a new hover effect in the header using jQuery instead of the simple rollover. There were also some minor changes concerning the overall design as well as the comments template. Yes, the comments are now very colorful! Check it out!

But wait … there is more! I added a dropdown box in the leftern blue triangle. Now we can select only certain categories. Additionally, I created a second view switch between full post and thumbs view. Click on a category or on a name tag and then “switch view” and you will see the full post instead of all the thumbs .

One of my ideas for the Grad Show, was to have a few random pictures like this, printed in a very large scale. People would have thought i was crazy!

This is what happens when im bored and playing in photoshop. I created a few random photos like this, this one is by far my favorite!!
I created this photo using six different photographs. The background, which had that brick foundation and all the graffiti, was one image. Then I photoshopped the rest into it.
Try it out! Its great fun!

The Mysterious White line..

So When i was printing I was having a good old time till i lifted the canvas off the rock.. and i saw this.. white line… NOW!! I have done thisfor 3 terms and I have never had this happen to me… should i leave it white?

the print is consistent as i have done it 5 times. or i can be sneeky and dye it some how…hmmmm.. (ps. i think there is a hole in the scraper bar on the litho press.. Just my LUCK!)

This is a photo of my display for a proposed graphic design business and the advertising for it.  The display includes clipboards, letterheads, envelopes, business cards, and a sculpture representing the identity and logo.

Fire in the Sky

Fire from the Sky is a recent painting from this semester.  I am studying automatism, which means to create without a plan and letting the subconscious part of the brain direct the work.  I feel like this painting is a celebration of the passion I have for creating art.  Making art motivates me.

Self explanatory.  This is an attempt at representative painting using a technique I developed for my abstract paintings.

This painting was a study of the work of Giorgio de Chirico.

Musician

I think string instruments are beautiful, and the people who play them take on a graceful quality when they play them.  This drawing was inspired by my fascination with musicians.

Park Bench

This photo mishap turned out to be a wonderful drawing!  Just a little bit of snow and ice on a brick walkway and the legs of a park bench make a great composition.  I enjoy the contrast and variety of textures.

Purple Swimsuit

This composition was created using conte and chalk pastels.  I drew this sketch from a modeling session and added color to create a more intersting image.

Target in the Trees

Every summer growing up, I went to my favorite summer camp, Camp Shagabec in Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan.  It is my favorite place in the world!  I used a silkscreen method to create prints of a  camp memory.  This is a picture of Camp Shagabec’s archery bales.

Life

I created this artwork from collaged images I felt reminded me of life and living.  I used a variety of mediums, including chalk pastel, water color pencils, and india ink.

To find the idea of what reconciliation means, we had to really look into it. One of the core concepts that came upon was the idea of “coming together”. Many groups discovered the idea of “piecing”. Here is a picture displayed of puzzles that are “coming together.”

Inspiration

John Cage’s work on random chance sound pieces inspired me to do one of my grad works in the medium of sound.

These examples  definitely started our “BIG” idea of a motif with  the idea of piecing & folding. In our main design, the idea of “piecing together is common through out our grad show.-

Idea for a Logo

I was thinking about letters and how they relate to each other. How can I break up the pattern? How can I create a diversity of shapes that relate to each other? How can I shift letters while maintaining their proportions? Working with the outlines as well as the plain letter shapes, I realized that I also need to vary the value of  the caps.
